Frequently Asked Questions

Gender affirming voice therapy is speech therapy to help transgender and gender-diverse people adjust their voice and communication patterns to match their gender identity. Therapy covers multiple topics, such as finding the right pitch for you, and using resonance, vocal weight, intonation and melody to make a healthy and gender euphoric voice. 

I provide speech therapy for voice feminization / MtF voice training, voice masculinization / FtM voice training, as well as non-binary/androgynous voice training. 

The cost of regular weekly sessions is on a sliding scale, based on whatever works best for your budget. Tier 1-$75, Tier 2-$100, Tier 3-$125 per session. Evaluations cost $125. All people qualify for the sliding scale, and there is no need to demonstrate financial hardship.

Evaluations are 60 minutes.  Regular weekly sessions are 45 minutes long.

I don’t accept insurance at this time, though I am happy to provide superbills so you can work directly with your insurance company regarding reimbursement.

Every client is unique, and their needs vary, so it is hard to predict ahead of time exactly how many sessions will be needed to attain the voice you are looking for. However, there are 5 major goal areas to cover at a session apiece, so anticipate at least 5 sessions (including the evaluation), with the number of sessions thereafter varying based on your individual goals and needs.

You will need a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection. We will use the HIPAA secure telehealth platform provided by simplepractice, and to sign online paperwork and login you will need a free simplepractice account.

Telehealth allows for a greater flexibility in scheduling for both myself and my clients. It also allows me to be available to people further away than my home city of Olympia Washington, such as in Spokane or Kennewick and Pasco.
